Putorti's Broadway Market is a 3 generation family owned Mom & Pop Convenience Store. Caroline Putorti opened her store on Mountain Street in Whitehall, N.Y. on September 9, 1927. Her son Fred ran the store during the 60's until 1973. In July of 1973 Caroline's grandson Francis, bought the business and runs today with his wife Cheryl. Putorti's Market carries groceries, soda, beer, dairy, deli (subs to order and homemade salads), bakery and a NYSlottery agent. Agriculture is the number one industry in Washington County with today’s Farmers opening to the public. The popular farm tours that are anticipated each year are; the fiber tour, the cheese tour and the maple syrup weekend. There are also, farmer’s markets held in each town and village all spring, summer and into the fall allowing visitors to purchase fresh “picked the same day” fruits and vegetables. Road side stands are another source of purchasing fresh from the garden farm produce. In addition the Washington County Fair has been an “Agricultural Tradition for over 100 years and the county’s largest special event. Many other farms have farm stores that allow access by the general public or by appointment. There are u-pick berry farms and orchards that have become family traditions over the years with wineries and gift shops. |

The art collection is comprised of Italian, Dutch, Flemish, German and French paintings from the fourteenth through the eighteenth centuries.
